"Life As We Know It" is about two seriously mismatched people — once hurled together on a disastrous blind date — suddenly bonded for life when their mutual friends die and will them into raising their infant daughter.

Facebook saga 'The Social Network' remains at No. 1

LOS ANGELES — Movie fans have bookmarked the Facebook drama "The Social Network" as their weekend favorite.

David Fincher's saga about personality clashes and legal feuds among the website's founders took in $15.5 million to remain the No. 1 film for a second straight weekend, according to studio estimates Sunday. Released by Sony, "The Social Network" raised its 10-day total to $46.1 million.

Debuting a close second with a so-so $14.6 million weekend was the Warner Bros. romance "Life as We Know It," starring Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel as sparring guardians to an orphaned girl.

'SECRETARIAT' SLIPS INTO MELODRAMA TOO OFTEN

Secretariat, the 1973 super horse, was no Seabiscuit. And that creates problems that "Secretariat," the movie, never overcomes. A well-acted tale of an underdog's triumph that sorely lacks an underdog, it teeters between pleasantly generic film biography and rank manipulation.

Diane Lane stars as Penny Chenery, the plucky, rich Virginia horsewoman who wouldn't let her daddy's family farm be sold and who gambled, wheeled and dealt on the hooves of Big Red to save it.

"You run your race, Penny," Daddy (Scott Glenn) always told her. So she's not about to let a pushy sibling (Dylan Walsh) sell the place after Daddy dies. She endures separation from her own family, back in Colorado, the sexism of the Old Boys' network of thoroughbred breeders of the 1960s and '70s and resolves to make a go of it with Meadow Farm.
